Sweet illustrations and a gentle storyline in this childrens book by Fran Manushkin and Ronald Himler. The story relates the excitement and curiosity that an older brother or sister feels while waiting for a new baby to be born. The whole family tries to bribe the baby to come out, and finally Dad's promise of lots of love does the trick.
It is hard to find a waiting-for-baby book that does not involve sibling rivalry or jealousy. This book focuses on the family being excited to meet and love the new baby, and the new baby being happy to be born into his loving family. It's all good in this book, which is all an older-sibling-to-be needs to hear in her bedtime story!
Also, one of the few books that includes a homebirth instead of mom driving to the hospital.
